Dr Cristóbal Pagán Cánovas
Cristóbal Pagán Cánovas is a researcher at the Discourse Analysis Group of the Institute for Culture and Society, University of Navarra. He has been a fellow at the Classics Faculty of the University of Oxford and the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies, as well as a Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellow at the universities of California San Diego, Case Western Reserve, and Murcia. These postdoctoral grants have provided support for his projects in cognitive poetics and linguistics, focusing on the study of cognitive patterns and creativity, metaphor, blending, embodiment, and spatial cognition in the expression of emotions, time, and other complex concepts. He has just been awarded a BBVA Foundation Scholarship to complete his book on emotions in Greek poetry at the University of Edinburgh and IASH. He also studies multimodal communication; as a researcher of the Red Hen Lab, he is helping develop the NewsScape Library of News Broadcasts.
